a simple feast
When Chris and Mary Ellen opened Peasant Restaurant in 2012, their vision was to create a place where customers felt as if they were guests in a friend's home. Mary Ellen painted the walls in a rich, warm palate and filled the space with paintings and objects d'art. She drew upon family and friends with restaurant experience to create a friendly and competent staff which she lovingly calls the "Peasant Family." Chris was living his dream come true as he set up his kitchen and planned a menu comprised of dishes that he describes as "peasant" food—hearty, comfort, satisfying, traditional European rustic food.
When Chris is not in the kitchen, he may be found fly fishing in one of the Mad River Valley's many brooks and rivers or enjoying the skiing at Mad River Glen. Mary Ellen is a Reiki Practitioner, artist, and jewelry maker.
